The band has released two albums: 2003's Escape The Roar, the first Indian English language album released by a major label (EMI), and 2007's Songs From The Moony Boom. What is the Moony Boom, you ask? It is a little child’s version of the “Music Room” – songs that were born in the cramped 12’ x 12’ jam pad in Ballygunge, Kolkata, the place where Skinny Alley lives and breathes.

Ashu represents a new wave of expression in India. Philosophically Indian but musically global. Bombay Elektrik Project presents, DJ Murthy, one of the pioneers of the underground house music scene in Hyderabad for a night of memorable dance music mania. Author, fuser, educator, creator - Murthy has over a decade's experience in the industry and his abiding passion has seen him evolve his own celebrated brand of music, a variant of tech-house, progressive and techno with influences found in the rhythmic beats of soul, funk, disco and crossover sounds.

Murthy has held residencies at clubs across Hyderabad including Passport, Sparks, Ahala and Bottles & Chimney while also playing his patented sounds for some of the largest chains in India including F-Bar (Hyderabad / Delhi) and 10 Downing Street. His travels have taken him outside the country to Italy, Germany, Bangkok where he's performed to packed audiences at places like the Coco Rico, Weekend and Bed Supper Lounge.

Murthy has also opened and played alongside some of his more famous global peers; Dave Seaman, Stephan K, Graham Gold, Dale Anderson, Jerome Isma-ae and Freaky Disco to name a few. He is also the ONLY Indian DJ to have played an opening set for DJMag's World No 2 DJ Tiesto to a 6,000-strong crowd in a stadium in Hyderabad.

But Murthy's tryst with music goes beyond the console, oftentimes behind the scenes. He is also founder/partner of Frequency, a growing underground dance movement born in Hyderabad. Under its umbrella, he hopes to unite lovers of dance music with its more enthusiastic proponents, bringing big-ticket artistes to Indian shores and giving people here the chance to experience evolving global sounds.

Baptised into dance music in his teens at the Summadayze festival in Melbourne, Australia, DJ Saif could not have asked for a better introduction to electronic music: 45,000 people shaking their booty on New Year’s Day to a DJ’s tunes. The euphoria of the gig persuaded him to consider DJing as a vocation, and he soon found himself championing tracks on the smoother audio train of house music.

Besides playing standing drum kits, the trio includes percussion instruments like the djembe, the darbuka, bongos, timbalis and a smorgasbord of Middle Eastern, Afro and Cuban instrumens. Not to forget home-grown classics like the tabla, the dhol, chenda, tasha and various duffs tuned to different pitches and keys to create an eclectic ‘world music’ sound.

GIG also invites artists as guests for their sets, depending on the requirement of the concert. For instance, a singer trained in Western as well as Indian Classical, or, a guitarist versed with the acoustic flamenco rhythms and the heavy metal electric sound.

The rules & regulations of the Rock Music Festival “Rock the Earth” 2009

1. Participation in the competition is open to all Indian professional / non professional bands in the area of rock music. The requirements stipulate that any band, whether they play rock, reggae, punk rock, blues, Indian rock and / or heavy metal can enter.

2. The general condition of participation is that the participating band, would need to bear a payment of Rs 5000/- as entry fee and send it to our address along with the filled in entry form(attached with this e-mail).

3. To complete registration, the following items have to be attached
- Duly signed and completed copy of registration form.
- Cheque or DD payable to Rhythms Arts Entertainers if mode of payment is not cash

4. The deadline for the submission of applications is 25th May 2009.

5. The artists chosen for the contest will be informed by the organizer week in advance.

6. The audition stage lasts for 2 weeks.

7. Each participating band would need to perform for a minimum 20 minutes during the auditions.

8. The organizer will announce the finalists a week before the final concert.

9. Travel and Lodging expenses are covered by the participants up to the last date of audition. The organizers would bear travel and lodging expense only for the finalists of the audition stage.

10. The organizer provides the sound equipment (but does not provide musical instruments).

11. Participants cover the cost of their personal possessions s and insurance.

12. The participants are judged by the Jury. The Jury is chosen by the organizer. The Jury will agree the division of prizes as it deems appropriate. The Jury’s verdict is irrevocable.

13. The winner of the festival is obliged to open next edition of the festival by giving a free Inauguration concert.

14. All disputes in respect to any matter will be decided upon by the organizer. The organizer is responsible for providing the order of presentations and rehearsals.

15. The objectives of the festival will be executed in accordance with the capabilities and Financial means supported by the sponsors.

- Top 6 bands from the audition level would perform live for 2 days
- Top 2 bands from the final 6 would receive cash prize + Music Album sponsorship
- 1st Prize: Rs 2 Lakhs + Music Album Sponsorship
