This Thursday features “Cover Story” and they’re doing a tribute to Smokie!
Originally called The Yen, then The Sphynx and later Essence, the band was formed in 1965 at St. Bede's Grammar School in Heaton, Bradford. They launched their debut album “Pass It Around” in February, 1975. They released a second album called “Changing All the Time” later that year. This LP sounded much softer than the debut, contained string arrangements on some songs, and heavily leaned toward acoustic guitar arrangements with close harmony vocals, which became their signature sound. Several releases followed before Solid Ground was released in 1981 . The advance single was a cover of "Little Town Flirt"/"I'm In Love With You", the last Smokie single to chart.
COVER STORY was started with the thought of doing covers of bands that have influenced them and also getting together their own originals to share with the world. All the band members have their individual influences that they bring forth in their performances. The band consists of:
Ray: Guitars and Backing Vocals
Age: 21, from Nagaland. Has been a Guitar Trainer for the last 3 years and also is a Classical Guitar Trainer
Jason: Guitars and Backing Vocals
Age: 20, from Manipur. Is a Keyboard and Guitar Trainer.
Mazi: Percussion
Age: 28, from Iran
Vijay: Drums
Age: 22, from Pune. He is a Drums Trainer
Rishi: Guitars and Vocals
Age: 30, from Pune. Is the member of an Active band called RADAR, and has done various shows in Mumbai and Pune
